iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Status: What You Should Know

Apple has released iOS 9.2, which comes with a handful of security fixes, bug fix, and some new features, but for some users, the important question is when we’ll see an iOS 9.2 jailbreak. Here’s what you should know about that.

Pangu released a jailbreak in October for iOS 9.0, but iOS 9.1 quickly released soon after that killed the jailbreak for anyone who updated to that new version. Since then, a newer jailbreak has yet to release, but hopefully we’ll see one soon now that iOS 9.2 is out.

It was odd enough that Pangu released the jailbreak when they did when everyone knew that iOS 9.1 was right around the corner, but at that point the jailbreak was already patched up in the iOS 9.1 beta, so the jailbreak release was warranted at that point.

In any case, if you’re interested in an iOS 9.2 jailbreak now that the new update is out, here are some things you should know about it.

Don’t Update to iOS 9.2 Yet

First of all, it’s important that if you’re currently jailbroken, you don’t update to iOS 9.2 right away, because you’ll lose your jailbreak and you won’t be able to downgrade back to iOS 9.0.

Of course, if you wanted to, you could take the risk and update to iOS 9.2 right now in order to take advantage of the new features and bug fixes, especially if you’re having issues with iOS 9.1. You’ll lose your jailbreak, but hopefully an iOS 9.2 jailbreak will release soon enough and you’ll be able to re-jailbreak sooner or later.

However, if you can wait, it’s probably better to stay on iOS 9.0 and remain jailbroken until an iOS 9.2 jailbreak releases. Then you can update to iOS 9.2 without a problem.

An iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Is Rumored

Jailbreaking developers like Pangu and TaiG rarely share their progress toward a new jailbreak, so it’s sort of like Schrodinger’s Cat as far as its existence is concerned: You can either look at it as an iOS 9.2 jailbreak existing or not existing, but you won’t know until Pangu opens up the box.

However, it’s actually rumored that Pangu has an iOS 9.2 jailbreak working as we speak, and they’re just waiting to release it until they can get their hands on a final version of iOS 9.2 to see if it patches up the jailbreak exploits.

Of course, we’re taking this with a grain of salt, especially considering that new jailbreak rumors are rarely ever a thing since developers don’t discuss their progress with new jailbreaks, and that includes Pangu.

In any case, though, it’s probably a good guess that Pangu or TaiG is working on a jailbreak as we speak that will work with iOS 9.2, so if there’s a rumor that does say that an iOS 9.2 jailbreak is being worked on, it’s probably mostly true anyway.

However, a release date for a new jailbreak is what no one really knows about, and that goes for an iOS 9.2 jailbreak that may or may not arrive soon. So at this point, it’s safe to say that someone is working on a new jailbreak, but there’s no official word as far as when we’ll see it.

‘iOS 9.1 Jailbreak’ Release Date Out? ‘iOS 9.2 Jailbreak’ Update

Last week, we told you that an iOS 9.1 Jailbreak was already available, but not accessible for the public. That is true, but according to a new report, one of the prominent jailbreak teams could release a working untethered iOS 9.1 jailbreak in the coming days.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak

We’re not a hundred percent sure about this report, as it could just be a rumour. It is, however, possible that since iOS 9.2 hasn’t been released yet, the teams have decided to release a jailbreak for iOS 9.1.

Either the Pangu team or TaiG team, are most likely working on the jailbreak tool. The last jailbreak for iOS 9.0 – 9.0.2, was released by the Pangu team. We believe that it would make more sense to work on a jailbreak for iOS 9.2.

iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Update

Apple is currently testing iOS 9.2 and has already released 4 beta versions to the developers. Usually, they stop testing a firmware once it reaches beta 4 or 5. Therefore, a public iOS 9.2 release could be imminent, perhaps before the end of this year.

iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Download Coming Soon

The last iOS 9.2 beta 4 was released on November 18 and there hasn’t been a new firmware since. This could be because Apple is planning to release the iOS 9.2 firmware as soon as next week.

Now, jailbreak teams may or may not have found an exploit for an iOS 9.2 jailbreak, which is why they might just release an iOS 9.1 jailbreak instead. Yes, we did say that an iOS 9.1 jailbreak at this time doesn’t make any sense and we stand by it.

However, a lot of users who want to jailbreak, haven’t updated to iOS 9.1 yet. If the jailbreak for iOS 9.1 isn’t released before Apple seeds iOS 9.2, then users who haven’t updated, will face problems. The signing window for iOS 9.1 will be closed within a day of the release of iOS 9.2, which means users will have to update to iOS 9.2. And if you update to iOS 9.1 now, then you may not have a jailbreak.

We’re just not sure if Pangu or Taig will release an iOS 9.1 jailbreak or wait for the release of iOS 9.2 to release a jailbreak for that version. There are several websites claiming that a jailbreak or ‘semi-jailbreak’ is already available for iOS 9.1. Do not believe those, as they are all scams.

iOS 9.2 Beta 4 Close To Jailbreak – Best Improvements and Features

Meanwhile, Apple has released the fourth beta of iOS 9.2 and the hackers are searching for exploits in the upcoming version, in order to jailbreak it.

If you’ll jailbreak your iOS device, you’ll gain full control over your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, being able to personalize the device the way you want, by installing tweaks and themes, some features are not supported by iOS, which is closed-source, and by jailbreaking it, the users are able to install Cydia tweaks and other applications that you dreamed of.

The PanGu team of hackers has found many exploits and iOS 9 – 9.0.2 and Apple has patched all of them in iOS 9.1, so since the iOS 9.1 jailbreak exploit is now owned by Zerodium, the company that has offered the bounty of $1 million to the hackers that have managed to offers a perfectly working browser-based, untethered jailbreak supporting both iOS 9.1 and the 9.2 beta, now we’re keeping an eye on the PanGu. The team of hackers is currently developing an iOS 9.2 jailbreak, which will be released after the public iOS 9.2 release will take place. Four weeks ago, Apple has released iOS 9.2 beta 4 and we’re pretty sure that it won’t take long until PanGu will come up with the latest 9.2 jailbreak.

TaiG is another team of hackers who is working on jailbreaking iOS 9.2, so we’ll see who wins the competition and brings the jailbreak tool first, none of the teams has come with an official confirmation about their efforts to jailbreak iOS 9.2, but soon wnough we’ll find out if the rumors are true.

iOS 9.1 jailbreak update: tool sold to private company?

Despite Apple Inc.'s efforts to tighten the software security features of its mobile operating system, it seems like the prolific jailbreak teams can still penetrate their system and will launch the next iOS 9.1 jailbreak in the coming days.

Numerous reports said that hacking groups like Team Pangu and TaiG are busy developing the next jailbreak tool that will work on the latest iOS 9 updates, including the iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2.

Gospel Herald reported that Pangu has launched the semi-jailbreak online script for iOS 9.1. However, it is only available online as of now, and the semi-jailbreak tool is not yet fully functional.
Because of its incomplete components, most jailbreak tool users still opt to stay away from the semi-jailbreak tool because it can damage their devices. Once they choose to download this tool, they can no longer downgrade to a lower iOS 9 version after Apple Inc. disabled the downgrading options. This means that they will be stuck with the semi-jailbreak tool until the iOS 9.2 comes out.

Meanwhile, N4BB reported that an iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool already exists. However, the report mentioned that the tool is not available to the public.

According to the report, a cybersecurity firm Zerodium launced a $1 million bounty for any hacking team that can jailbreak iOS 9.1. But the requirements to get the reward said that the tool must be browser based so it can be applicable to all types of iOS devices.

A jailbreak team reportedly submitted its tool to Zerodium and received the reward money. The undisclosed team reportedly managed to come up with a working, browser-based untethered jailbreak that can work on both beta versions of the iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2. But since Zerodium already owns the license for the jailbreak tool, it can no longer be released to the public.

Still, some reports claim that other jailbreak teams can still come up with their own iOS 9.1 or iOS 9.2 jailbreak tools and release it before the end of 2015 or early 2016.

Top 10 Brand New Free iOS 9 Jailbreak Tweaks

It has hardly been a week since the Pangu team released their jailbreak tool tojailbreak iOS 9 – iOS 9.0.1, and we’ve already seen a flood of new jailbreak tweaks foriOS 9.

We’ve compiled couple of lists of our favorite jailbreak tweaks for iOS 9 so far. But we continue to find some useful tweaks, so here’s another list of some cool tweaks that are compatible with iOS 9 – iOS 9.0.2:

#1. FaceDown

FaceDown is a nifty little jailbreak tweak that locks your iPhone when you put it face down. It looks like it makes use of motion coprocessor like iOS 9’s battery savingFacedown Detection feature, so it will work only on iPhone 5s or later. It won’t work on the iPad or iPod touch.

#2. EasyRespring

The tweak provides a quick way to respring your device by allowing you to swipe up on the Home screen card in the App Switcher.

#3. Cog

Cog is another nifty tweak, it tells you if you were the last to send a message or receive a message from a Contact without opening the conversation.

#4. cuttlefish

Cuttlefish is a new iOS 9 tweak that uses the color of the icon for the 3D Touch menu background blur tint. It looks pretty cool.

#5. Mutiny

Mutiny allows you to mute a conversation directly from the conversation list.

#6. RevealMenu

RevealMenu is another jailbreak tweak that brings 3D Touch-style Quick Actions to any iOS 9 device.

It allows you to quickly find out which tweaks you’ve installed recently. This can come in handy if you run into a problem after installing some tweaks.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak News: Jailbreak Teams Continue to Work on Tools For New Operating System

Jailbreak teams continue to work on creating a successful jailbreak tool for Apple's iOS 9.1. The two teams that might be able to discover a jailbreak tool are Pangu and TaiG.

It is very possible that either Pangu or TaiG will soon be able to jailbreak iOS 9.1, possibly in early 2016, Day Herald reports.

When iOS 9.1 was being developed, there was already a jailbreak tool for iOS 9. Apple went through several beta versions of iOS 9.1 before finally releasing the full version of the operating system.

When iOS 9.1 was released it had fixed the vulnerabilities that were used by the Pangu jailbreak team in their iOS 9 jailbreak. Apple admitted that it included two patches in iOS 9.1 that fixed what Pangu had exploited.

Now, Pangu and TaiG have to find new exploits and vulnerabilities in the iOS 9.1 operating system in order to jailbreak it. Apple is already working on the beta versions of iOS 9.2 and will soon release the final version to the public as an over-the-air download.

Apple has focused on making their operating systems much more secure, which is making creating jailbreak tools even more difficult.

The Pangu jailbreak tool works for iOS 9, iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2. If users upgraded from one of these operating systems to iOS 9.1, they were given a short time to downgrade back to them. Apple has closed the downgrade window, which means a user on iOS 9.1 has no complete jailbreak tool.

A team of hackers was able to remotely jailbreak iOS 9.1 and was paid a $1 million bounty from Zerodium. Unfortunately, the team is anonymous and since Zerodium now owns the rights to the jailbreak, it is highly unlikely the public will ever see it.

The only jailbreak solution currently available to the public is an incomplete jailbreak tool. The Semi Jailbreak is a partial jailbreak tool available from TaiG.

The jailbreak community hopes that jailbreak solutions are discovered soon for iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Status Update

Can I jailbreak iOS 9.1 on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? Here we look at the state of the jailbreak with Apple having now released iOS 9.1 final version to the public.

After seeding five development betas to registered developers and testers over a period of a month, iOS 9.1 is here, and it’s finally available, but where does that leave those individuals who choose to have a liberated iOS device?

The introduction of a jailbreak solution last week with Pangu 9 for iOS 9.0, 9.0.1, and 9.0.2 took many by surprise. It was, of course, a very welcome surprise for those who were yearning for an untethered jailbreak on Apple’s latest mobile OS, but it still managed to blindside a lot of individuals. Of course, Pangu 9 release also meant that any vulnerabilities used to exploit iOS essentially enter the public domain, leaving Apple to tear the jailbreak apart and patch any of those holes. It’s widely accepted that the security loopholes used in the latest Pangu jailbreak were patched by Apple in beta 4 of iOS 9.1.

It’s for that reason that it’s vitally important to not go through the process of upgrading to iOS 9.1 if you wish to remain jailbroken. We officially need to wait for actually verified confirmation from Pangu Team that their methods of exploit have been patched by Apple, but in the meantime we can safely assume that this is the case. That really makes iOS 9.1 a danger zone for anyone who is currently enjoying all of the spoils that being jailbroken offers.

If you’ve accidentally gone through the process of upgrading to iOS 9.1 without thinking of the consequences, then it’s definitely advised to downgrade back to iOS 9.0.2 while the signing window is still open on Apple’s side. The same can be said if you’re on an earlier version of iOS and haven’t yet updated to iOS 9.0.2. The signing window won’t last for long though so you better hurry up if you want to update or downgrade to iOS 9.0.2 while it’s still possible. It seems that the age old game of jailbreak cat and mouse between Apple and the teams involved in serving up jailbreak solutions is about to begin once again.

The bottom line is that there’s currently no public jailbreak solution available for iOS 9.1. As previously mentioned, we really need to wait for that official confirmation that the vulnerabilities used for the iOS 9.0 – 9.0.2 jailbreak have been patched. Until then, stay away from the latest version of iOS if you’re a jailbreaker.
